Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Cardiology QA manager! , and following policy guidelines and protocols, supports the collection and maintenance of data related to quality assurance for the Cardiovascular Center and Heart Failure/Transplantation Program. Extracts clinical data from multiple sources, enters and compiles data into computerized databases. Performs chart reviews and computer searches as needed. Performs chart reviews and computer searches as needed. Presents data in a various forums consisting of physicians and colleagues. Maintains Quality Assurance records and databases; ensuring accuracy and completeness. Assists in the analysis and presentation of data reports. Participates in Cardiology Quality Assurance, Complication Tracking, and other related meetings as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
Compiles and maintains data related to Quality Assurance for the Cardiovascular Center and Heart Failure/Transplantation Program. Extracts data and information from multiple sources including patient records! ; compiles and enters data into computerized database applicat! ions. Assists in the production of statistical and spreadsheet analyses for review in unit clinical forums.
Assists in the development and preparation of reports for state and regulatory agencies. Assists in the review of data for pertinence and consistency within program protocols. Maintains Quality Assurance records and databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Assists in the development of tracking systems to follow particular procedures, techniques, or complications. Performs computer data searches as needed.
Assists in event investigation and reporting. Performs chart reviews to verify written documentation to support data reported. Assists in coordinating verbal or written responses regarding data integrity as appropriate to designated authority or agency.
Assists in the ongoing education of staff to maintain competencies and awareness of hospital and external agency regulatory requirements and quality initiatives.
Participates in weekly and month! ly QA meetings as appropriate. Assists in planning agendas for meetings and documents meeting minutes. Presents data/outcomes at Quality meetings.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field, Registered Nurse preferred and 1-2 years related experience. Previous Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement experience preferred. Strong Cardiology background preferred. Must be comfortable with presenting data to physicians and colleagues. Must be able to review and extract relevant data from medical records. Excellent computer skills including database applications required.
