Ø

The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for giving direct and indirect nursing care to a specified number of residents

.

Ø

! Monitors and observes an awareness of residents' physical, mental, and emotional condition.

Ø

Recognizes and reports adverse signs and takes necessary action.

Ø

Implements resident Care Plans following appropriate standards of practice.

Ø

Conducts daily audits of the work being done on the unit by Nursing staff.

Ø

Develops relationships and regularly communicates with all internal and external customers.

Ø

Maintains thorough knowledge of residents’ medications and is able to identify side effects and interactions and educate residents accordingly.

Ø

Has direct involvement in incident and accidents investigations on his/her assignment, when appropriate.

Ø

Builds a high-performance team on the unit. Provides leadership and follow-through when coaching/behavior modification is required.

Ø

Ensures an appropriate and profession! al demeanor with internal and external customers.

Ø !

Presents a positive image and remains approachable and accessible.

Ø

Acts as a confident and knowledgeable resource.

Ø

Demonstrates initiative and cooperation in professional working relationships.

Ø

Demonstrates a commitment of quality through participation on improvement teams and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Ø

Consistently delivers high quality service and is responsive to customer needs.

Ø

Required to become CPR certified within one (1) month of hire and required to maintain certification thereafter.

Qualifications and Background

Successful completion of Practical Nursing program; High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience.

Must have current and valid NYS professional license. CPR certification is preferred.

Directly supervises 1-6 employees.

Carries out super! visory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
