The OnTrack NY Program is an innovative treatment program at New York State Psychiatric Institute's Washington Heights Community Service. The program serves people between the ages of 16 and 30 who have experienced an initial episode of psychosis. The team l! eader will work 1.0 FTE as part of a multidisciplinary team providing coordinated and assertive treatment in the earliest stages of illness.

DUTIES

  • Providing oversight and supervision of the first-episode psychosis treatment team consisting of a psychiatrist, nurse, outreach/recruitment coordinator, skills trainer and substance abuse counselor, and supported education and employment specialist
  • Serving as primary contact person and clinician for patients and families; providing counseling and case management services
  • Spearheading efforts to engage patients in treatment
  • Building positive relationships with patients and assisting them in attaining recovery-oriented goals
  • Providing support, education, and consultation to patients' families
  • Facilitating weekly team meetings
  • Participating in ongoing training and supervision
  • Coordinating on-call responsibilities among team members
  • Co! nducting home visits and meeting with patients in the communit! y as necessary
  • Ensuring clinic compliance with OMH and TJC regulatory mandates
  • Fulfilling other responsibilities that may emerge
  • Documenting all services provided
QUALIFICATIONS

Master's-level clinician with at least 5 years post-graduate experience.
Experience in treatment of psychotic-spectrum illness
Supervisory experience
Experience working with adolescents and young adults preferred
Experience in community-based mental health services
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be willing to carry pager and respond to emergencies nights and weekends

This position involves regular and substantial contact with children. The successful candidate will be screened through the New York State Central Child Abuse Register prior to assuming any duties that will involve contact with children. There is a $25.00 fee for this service which must be paid by the successful candidate.
