JOB TITLE: Sr. Director and Associate Chief Nursing Officer

SUPERVISES:! Nursing Units

LOCATION: Buffalo, NY

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the VP/CNO, this position will be accountable for the day- to- day operation of the site nursing units. This position will also be responsible for developing and implementing nursing strategy and corporate policies to ensure quality patient care and that patient expectations are met or exceeded. Develops and implements site specific patient-focused management programs, nursing practice guidelines, nursing quality indicators, nursing research based practices, and clinical pathways. Oversees the integration of the care delivery system at the site so that patient care needs are met within financial, DNV, DOH and other regulatory and evidence-based guidelines.

Key Accountabilities:
--Unde! r the Direction of the CNO/VP the Senior Director/ACNO will be! responsible for managing the delivery of high quality patient care.

--Participates in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of care delivery models and services that meet or exceed customer expectations which are evidence-based, customer-focused, collaborative and multidisciplinary in nature, clinically effective and efficient.

--Participates in the sites vision, culture, strategy and key initiatives to enhance the viability of the site.

--Participates in policy decisions affecting patient care services at relevant levels of site decision making in accordance with the philosophy and mission.

--Acts as a patient care advocate by addressing concerns with the administrative members and appropriate committees.

--Establishes site specific nursing practice guidelines.

--Implements clinical standards and policies to achieve nursing and patient care goals in compliance with Department of Health and DNV regu! lations. Serves as member of Nurse Executive Council and stands in for the VP/CNO at any or all meetings when needed.

--Takes a lead role in the development of systems to continuously monitor and measure the quality, safety, patient satisfaction and appropriateness of services.

--Focuses on the use of tools, expertise and applications for quality improvement.

--Ensures that applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations are followed.

--May participate in evaluating, selecting, and integrating health care technology and information management systems that support patient care needs and the efficient utilization of resources.

--Able to integrate technology changes with patient care procedures.

--Maintains a focus on nursing education, and continuing development.

--Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of educational programs to meet projected manpower needs and competency require! ments.

--Participates in the development and implementation of! mechanisms for recognizing the expertise and performance of nursing staff members engaged in patient care.

--Works in collaboration with Corporate Employment on the development and implementation of programs that improve the recruitment, retention, development and continuing education of nursing staff members and other staff as necessary to promote quality care delivery.

--Identifies patient care equipment needs and participates in the research, evaluation and acquisition as needed.

--Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with organized labor representatives
