Program Nurse

Provide day to day health care to children, develop appropriate action plans for ill and injured children and communicate effectively with parents on any health concerns of children in the Head Start Program---i! ncluding ensuring compliance
Qualifications/Education and Experience:
Ø Ability to work well with children from diverse backgrounds.
Ø Medication administration and protocols
Ø Must be skillful in the use of a computer and knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite
Ø Knowledge of community health resources.
Ø Must be able to provide developmentally appropriate health education in the classrooms and health training for parents and staff.
Ø Requires the health, physical capability and a working level knowledge of nursing, including assessment and treatment, to work with children 0-5 yrs of age.
Ø Must be able to follow all program infection control, health and safety guidelines.
Ø Ability to function effectively with others.
Ø Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Ø 3-5 years experience working in a childcare or school experience
Ø Must possess! and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s license and ha! ve access to reliable transportation.
Ø Current NYS License as an LPN
Ø A four-year degree in Public Administration, Social Science, or related field preferred and two (2) years work experience in programs serving youth or equivalent combination of education and experience.
