The Sr. Physician Assistant (Cardiovascular) practices under the clinical supervision of the Medical Director of Cardiac Surgery and the ! operations supervision of the Manager of Cardiac Surgery. The Sr. Physician Assistant demonstrates competency and efficiency in the OH surgical suite as a first assist and endovein harvesting. This position demonstrates competency in assessing, diagnosing and treating the Cardiac Surgery patient in accordance with delineation of privileges. This position provides guidance and preceptorship to CVOR Physician I and Physician II. Demonstrates "strong" ability to organize and prioritize patient care activities. Selects and interprets laboratory and diagnostic testing. Communicates medical assessment and plan to patient and attending physician. Completes medical record documentation in a timely manner. Coaches/Mentors cardiovascular physician assistant's and nurse practitioner's. Assumes on call and rotation schedule as required
Qualifications:
Licensed as a N.Y.S. Certified Physician Assistant. Bachelors Degree preferred. ACLS required. DEA privileges requir! ed. Minimum of 3 years Cardiac Surgery experience required wit! h at least 90 cases in the past 36 months required. Demonstrated ability to facilitate collaborative management of the cardiac surgical patient. On call required.
