Must have minimum 3 yrs of recent experience in acute care nursing, preferably with experience in specialty care of vascular devices. Prior experience with insertion of PICC lines preferred. Scheduled shifts are primarily 8 or 10 hr day shifts with start times varying from 0700 to 0900 and shift end times varying from 1530 to 1930 depending on day of week. Every 3rd weekend coverage will be scheduled in rotation with peers. No holidays.

Description:
Under indirect supervision, provides and coordinates health care and professional nursing services for patients and their families. Collaborates with other health care providers as needed.Refines skills of history-taking and assessment to collect patient data Assists in identification of patient problems and collaborates/participates in plan of care based on existing standards and long-term goals.

Anticipates potential patient and/or family problems and incorporates into plan of care. Incorporates families in care delivered as appropriate.

Implements nursing interventions to address comprehensive patient needs.

Works collaboratively with health care team to achieve patient outcomes.

Administers medications according to hospital and unit policies and procedures.

Maintains therapeutic environment. Evaluates patient and/or family response to care.

Communicates patient and/or family response to care to appropriate care providers and takes appropriate action. Communicates effectively in written, verbal and nonverbal interactions.

Discusses concerns or issues through appropriate communication channels.

Interprets policies, procedures and nursing care objectives to others in a clear manner

Documentation is organized, succinct, goal directed and reflects the patient condition and priorities of care.

Organizes and manages nursing care of assigned group of patients independently

Organizes time to support unit activity and provides assistance to others as needed

Uses available human resources appropriately

Identifies actual patient and/or unit-related problem areas

Seeks guidance to problem-solving and takes initial steps to solve identified problems

Effectively functions in the charge role when assigned

Follows unit and/or service guidelines for activities

Supervises staff nurses and ancillary personnel on a given shift

Coordinates clinical activities on a given shift and delegates appropriately.

Identifies learning needs of patient and/or family.

Assists in development of individual teaching programs for patients and/or families.

Interprets policies, procedures and nursing care objectives to others in a clear manner.
