POSITION OVERVIEW
The Major Gifts Officer works in close collaboration with the Development Office and the Associate Head of School for External Relations to surpass major gift campaign goals through identification and cultivation of major gifts. As a member of the External Relations Team, the Major Gifts Officer is fully engaged in the planning and execution of a transformative major gifts campaign totaling $50-$100 million for Milken, as well as involvement in all other parts of the Development Office. The Major Gifts Officer reports to the Director of Development.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Donor Identification: Conduct research and analysis to identify potential major gift donors who have the capacity and inclination to make significant contributions to our organization.
  • Donor Cultivation: Develop and implement strategies to engage major gift prospects, including personalized cultivation plans, donor meetings, and stewardship activities to build strong relationships and deepen their commitment to our organization.
  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with the development team and organizational leadership to develop compelling proposals for major gift prospects, ensuring alignment with donor interests and organizational priorities.
  • Donor Stewardship: Design and implement effective stewardship plans to recognize and engage major gift donors, ensuring ongoing communication, updates, and opportunities for involvement.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records, including contact information, interactions, and gift information in our donor management system. Utilize the system to track progress, identify trends, and generate reports as needed.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate closely with the development team, senior leadership, and other staff members to coordinate major gift initiatives, leverage resources, and ensure consistent messaging and donor experiences.
  • External Engagement: Represent the organization at networking events, donor meetings, and community gatherings to enhance the organization's visibility, build relationships, and identify new major gift prospects.
  • Compliance and Ethics: Adhere to ethical fundraising practices and maintain compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Manages a portfolio of 25+ major gift prospects.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Able to think strategically in order to envision, plan, execute, and achieve results in a complex environment.
  • A skilled communicator who can present a persuasive and compelling case with sincerity and conviction.
  • A talent for moving comfortably in a variety of social settings and building meaningful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Proficient at gathering and analyzing meaningful data to aid in the development of effective strategies and plans.
  • Strong sense of Jewish identity and commitment to Milken Community School’s mission.
  • Superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with implementing stakeholder cultivation plans.

Standard On-Campus Hours
Start: M - F by 7:45 AM
End: M, T, Th 3:15 PM, W 4:15 PM, F 2:30 PM.
  • All schedules are subject to change.

SALARY RANGE: $80,000 - $95,000
