The Staff Nurse assists physicians with patient care and
overall operations of the Internal Medicine Department.
Position Activities
·
S! upervises the daily functions of the clinical
staff in the area. Coordinates staffing needs with the Office Manager based on
physician schedules. Participates in the interview process and trains new
hires. Supervises clinical staff in fulfilling all assigned responsibilities.
Participates in performance evaluations.

Responsible for triaging health related
communications. Responds to phone calls and electronic communications from
patients in a timely manner. Provides appropriate medical advice and schedules
urgent visits as needed.

Ensures service excellence by becoming familiar
with the WE CARE training and Physician Organization standards. Promotes
patient rights, privacy, and safety and conforms to all applicable HIPAA,
billing compliance, and safety guidelines.

Manages lab work conducted in the department.
Ensures physician orders are followed and lab work is sent p! roperly. Tracks all
incoming lab results and follows up on! overdue and missing results. Reviews
reports not in Epic and communicates abnormal results to physicians.

Assists clinical staff in patient care as
needed- take history and vital signs, urine and other specimen collection, and
venipuncture, immunizations and other injections.
·
Provides relevant health teaching and treatment
plans to patients. Provides pre- and post- procedure test instructions; ensures
that the patient understands and follows instructions.

Ensures that the inventory of medical supplies
and vaccines in the area are managed appropriately.
·
Coordinates patient referrals and care to and
from Specialists.
·
Reviews the daily appointment schedules and
manages patient flow.
·
Records medical information in EMR- Epic.
·
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
M! inimum Requirements
·
BCLS/ACLS Certified and CPR Training.
·
Graduate of an approved nursing school and
registered licensed nurse in NYS.
Highly Desired Requirements
·
Supervisory Skills.
·
EMR knowledge, EPIC experience.
·
One year or more of clinical experience, preferably
in an Internal Medicine ambulatory care setting.
