Registered Nurse â€" Urology (Sisters of Charity Hospital ) : The Urology Department Registered Nurse is responsible for delivery of patient care through! the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. He/she anticipates the needs of the patient and physician and provides services according to the standards of practice while maintaining an aseptic and safe environment. Participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working with ancillary personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the Urology Department setting
REPORTS TO : Nurse Manager of Surgical Services
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (minimum)
Educational Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- BSN strongly preferred
- Current New York State License
- Current BLS certification
- Meets and is current and competent with all New York State licensure requirements, not limited to Infection Control and Child Abuse mandatory reporting! .
- Two ! years medical/surgical experience strongly preferred
- Prior OR/urology experience strongly preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated clinical ability and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to perform technical aspects of job with unit-based equipment.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work across Service Line
- Ability to meet demands of unit staffing â€" need for increased census and acuity.
- Adaptable to inside and outside environmental conditions.
- Working knowledge of urological instruments, equipment and positioning (i.e. stirrups)
- Requires availability to be on-call for urological emergencies
- Manage frequent turnover of cases in an efficient, timely and safe manner
- Normal heat, light space, and safe working environment; typical o! f most office jobs.
- Occasional exposure to one or more mildly unpleasant physical conditions. Physical Effort
