Under an advanced practice medical license, the Nurse Practitioner/Physicians Assistant performs physical examinations, trea! ts injuries and illnesses, determines diagnoses, prescribes medications, orders diagnostic tests, and provides referrals for specialized treatment. Provides medical services through the health office assuring compliance to federal and state regulations (OSHA, DOT, and NRC). Determines physical limitations for returning employees to work and advises management in decisions to reduce illness/injury liability.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Under the supervision of a Company physician, assists in the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of minor personal and occupational illnesses and injuries; dispensing and prescribing medications as necessary.
2. Evaluate employees¿ abilities to safely perform full or restricted work duties.
3. Assess health status of employees through medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing that meets OSHA, DOT, NRC mandated requirements! . May perform pre-employment physicals and drug screening.
5. Provide health counseling, coordinate, manage and deliver health promotion programs. May provide medical advice for major medical and Workers¿ compensation claims processing
6. Work in collaboration with Industrial Safety and Health to help coordinate and manage injury prevention strategies. Under Emergency Response Plan, acts as dispenser of radioactive blocking agents to designated personnel. Performs decontamination of radiation contaminated employees.
7. Participates in industry conferences and interfaces with other utilities as station representative for the function. Stays abreast of regulatory changes as they impact Medical functions. Stays current on issues in the nuclear industry. Complies with all Federal and State laws regarding privacy and security Operations.
8. Coordinates site wellness programs.
Job Specificat! ions:
Knowledge: Specific knowledge of Federal and State health, occupational safety, and industrial regulations as they pertain to personnel safety. Written and oral communication skills and the ability to influence others and clearly state the vision and desired outcomes. Strong analytical and problem solving skills coupled with the ability to make and implement decisions. Knowledgeable in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
Skills/Abilities: Ability to read, write, and analyze reports and written materials. Ability to operate in a self-directed work environment. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to build and sustain relationships at all levels of the organization while maintaining objectivity and complete confidentiality
Ability to analyze processes, procedures and regulations and recommend appropriate actions as they relate to the health and welfare of employees, as well as suggest alternatives for c! ontinuous improvement
Ability to ensure that all records are mainta! ined in accordance with mandated, contractual and business obligations.
Education/Experience: Must hold state license as Nurse Practitioner, preferably in adult health or as Physician Assistant. Applicable certification and licenses by state and national board is required.
Bachelor¿s Degree in Nursing or graduation from approved Physician Assistant Program and national certification required; Master¿s Degree and board certification preferred. 3-5 years work experience in advanced practice, with Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred. 3-5 years work experience in occupational safety and health preferred.
Satisfactory completion of radiation safety training and radiation emergency training required.

4. Recent convictions for crimes reasonably related to the activities of this job may disqualify an applicant.
5. Ability to meet and maintain unescorted access requirements of a nuclear power plant.
6. Ability to work additional hours to support on-going plant operations and refueling outages. Must be available for on-call status.
7. Ability to serve on emergency response team, when called.
8. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to the performance of the position.
