Responsibilities:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist APRN / Educator is the clinical expert in evidence-based nursing practice in the area of Emergency and Critical Care Services. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will work under the fundamentals and the nine Advanced Practice Competencies identified by Hamrie and Spross (Direct Care, Consultation, System Leadership, Collaboration , Coaching, Research, Ethical Decision Making, , Moral Agency, and ! Advocacy) as well as the eight Nurse Characteristics identified in the AACN Synergy Model (Clinical Judgment, Facilitation of Learning, Response to Diversity, Clinical Inquiry, Systems Thinking, Collaboration, Advocacy, Caring Practices). The Clinical Surgical Services Educator: Coordinates and guides clinical activities/projects of nurses within a practice area. Collaboratively works on evidence-based practice as they relate to nurse sensitive indicators Is accountable for collaborating with members of the health care team to design, implement, and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies.Is responsible for maintaining current professional knowledge and competencies and contributing to the advancement of the practice of nursing at the unit and organizational levels.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Holds a Masters / Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited program that prepares clinical nurse specialists / APRN.
Minimum Experience:
2â€"5 minimum years of CNS experie! nce required in Critical Care / Emergency Services services. Extensive cardiovascular experience with open heart and EP preferred.
Required Certification/Registration:
Current New York State Registered Nurse. Certification in specialty required.
