A staff nurse is a registered nurse, who in this first level position, coordinates care of assigned patient! s on a shift. Possesses the qualifications and attributes esse! ntial for the provision of safe, efficient and therapeutic nursing care. Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary health care team to optimize team performance. Acts as a patient advocate by addressing individual patient needs. Functions within the standards of practice established by NYP Department of Nursing and American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice. Acts within the policies and procedures of the hospital, division, and clinical department. Actively participates in the Professional Nursing Organization.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Current New York State License as a Registered Nurse required. Staff Nurse position within the Oncology Treatment Center at the Weill Cornell location. 10-hour day shifts 8:30am -6:30pm. At least one year of acute-care RN experience is required; Chemo certification and ambulatory experience is preferred.
BCLS for all nurses who provide direct patient care, excluding NICU unless they float to general! pediatrics required. ACLS upon hire/transfer into the ED and within 90 days of hire/transfer into the Cardiac Catherization Lab, 4 North (Cardiac Telemetry) and 4 South (CCU), Burn ICU and Burn Step Down required. Additional certifications may be required depending on unit as per Nursing By-Laws.
