Overview
Provides direct or indirect patient care in accordance with treatment plans as determined/delegated by a licensed nurse. Assists with tasks necessary for the general management and organizati! on of the patient care unit, being flexible meeting patient an! d/or unit needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care and indirect activities to facilitate unit functioning.
Provide safe and competent care for patients with relationship to nutritional, skin integrity, elimination and hygiene needs including bathing, grooming and changing bed linens.
Take patient vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressures and pain level.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills, compassion and any other kind of support needed for the patient and patient family members.
Assists with ambulation, transferring or lifting of patients.
May also perform clerical duties including transcription and maintenance of patient charts.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
2 years experience in a Patient Care Technician role preferred.
Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.
Completi! on of one of the following: Nursing Fundamentals, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, or experience as a medical assistant/technician in a health related facility or participation in a Patient Care Technician training program preferred.
