Description: Visiting Nurse Service of New York is presently looking of Nurse Practitioner right now, this vacancy will be placed in New York. Responsible for providing expert clinical care to members of the Program and instructs staff in quality care consistent with Agency philosophy and standards of nursing practice in r! elation to Agency goals and objectives. Works under general supervision. Licensure: License and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required. New York State Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
Board certification by a national certifying body, such as ANCC or AANP. Valid drivers license may be required, as determined by operational/regional needs. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license required. Education: Masters Degree in Nursing required.
Experience: Minimum of five years clinical nursing experience including two years in the specialty of chronic illness management, palliative care or hospice required. Minimum of two years as a Nurse Practitioner preferred. Experience in a community health setting, conducting professional presentations and writing for professional publications preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of symptom management, understanding of end of life issues with appropriate interventi! ons, and understanding of the impact of cultural background on! illness management required.
An understanding of home care and hospice services and regulations, Title XXII, Medicare Conditions of Participation, QI outcomes/ benchmarking, reimbursement patterns for Managed Care, Medicare and other payers preferred.
